APRIL 12, 2001

The Alaska State Senate voted 16-2 on Wednesday to approve a resolution condemning the recent paint-ball attacks on Alaska Natives in Anchorage.

The vote came after debate on the resolution's language. The Senate added an amendment condemning "unlawful" discrimination, wording which some opposed.

The measure also calls on the US Commission on Civil Rights to investigate incidents of racism in the state.
