The Brothertown Indian Nation of Connecticut, a non-federally recognized tribe, is seeking to intervene in the Oneida Nation's land clain against the state of New York.

A federal judge next week will hear arguments that the state illegaly bought the tribe's land. In a treaty with the federal government, the Brothertown Tribe -- an amalgamation of other tribes including descendants of the historic Pequot Nation -- were promised some 99.000 acres of land.

There is another group of Brothertown descendants who migrated to Wisconsin after their land was sold.
