Tribe won't attend Congressional hearing

FEBRUARY 8, 2001 The Paucatuck Eastern Pequot Tribe of Connecticut on Wednesday told Representative Rob Simmons (R-Conn) they won't be attending a field hearing he has scheduled for Friday. Chief James A. Cunha Jr. said it would be inappropriate to take part in the hearing because the tribe, and the Eastern Pequot Tribe, are the target of a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and the leaders of three towns. The Eastern Pequot Tribe said it will attend the meeting, which takes place in Hartford. Get the Story:
