JANUARY 12, 2001

Maine tribes on Thursday received support from the Maine House, who voted in favor of a bill which would let the two tribal representatives in the state legislature submit amendments to floor bills that affect tribes.

But the two representatives will not be able to vote in committee. Currently, the representatives have non-voting status and tribes are also represented by other House and Senate members.
