FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2001 A federal judge in Montana on Thursday sentenced a resident of the Crow Reservation to a maximum of 97 months for sexually abusing and beating a woman. U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull rejected sentencing guidelines agreed to by federal prosecutors when they accepted Shane Plain Woman's guilty plea. He admitted to the January 28 crime. Plain Woman is from Canada but has lived on the reservation for several years, according to court documents. He has had trouble with the law, but has no criminal record, the judge said.
