Peru's Attorney General filed homicide charges against ex-President Alberto Fujimori on Wednesday.

Fujimori is charged with knowing of and orchestrating death squad killings in the 1990s. The Colina Group has been accused of 15 murders in 1991 and the murder and kidnap of 10 academics in 1992.

Fujimori is currently living in exile in Japan. Since he has been granted citizenship there, Japan is unlikely to extradite him to face the charges.

Fujimori also faces lesser charges for his conduct as president.
