Saudi Arabia, a long-time ally to the United States, has cut diplmatic ties to the Taliban, the ruling party of Afghanistan.

The move leaves Pakistan as the only nation to recognize the Taliban as the controlling government. Pakistan has withdrawn its 12 diplomats from Kabul, the Afghan capital, however.

The Taliban reported it has deployed troops to the Afghan border. Osama bin Laden, a Saudi exile, today renewed his call for practicers of the Islamic faith to wage a holy war against the United States.
