Afghan clerics want bin Laden to leave

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2001 A group of Muslim clerics in Afghanistan have recommended that Osama bin Laden, the suspected mastermind behind last week's terrorist attacks on the United States, leave the country voluntarily, media sources are reporting. But President Bush has rejected the suggestion even though the cleric say that should the U.S. attack their country, a holy war will be declared. The recommendation came after ther clerics met for two days to consider bin Laden. Get the Story:
