A group of Islamic clerics will meet today in Afghanistan to consider whether to turn over Osama bin Laden, identified as a prime suspect in last week's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, to the United States.

Officials from neighboring Pakistani meet with the Taliban yesterday to press for the surrender of bin Laden, whose Saudi Arabian citizenship was revoked and who has been embraced by the Taliban. The Taliban is the ruling government of almost all of Afghanistan.

The Taliban news agency is also reporting that Afghans are being urged to prepare for a war by the United States. President Bush says bin Laden is wanted "dead or alive."

Saudi Arabian officials will be asked for help in investigating bin Laden's terrorist network. Most of the hijackers had Saudi citizenship.
