Diva #2: Sue Masten, President, National Congress of American Indians

Nobody works a pantsuit like this Diva! Not only is she head of the oldest Native American lobbying organization, she's also chairwoman of the Yurok Tribe of California.

Thanks to her divaness, NCAI is always consulted before a policy decision is made affecting Indian Country. This is done even though not all tribes subscribe to NCAI's philosophy. Maybe they are not interested in paying the "membership" fees?

Or maybe they decided not to join after seeing NCAI's digital divide web site, which looks surprisingly like NCAI's original website even after a $100,000 grant from AOL-TimeWarner. (NCAI is going to redesign its site, by the way).

Either way, In The Hoop is happy we can attend NCAI's regular conferences, where there is always plenty of free food and plenty of access to lawyers who are looking for new clients.

Diva Forecast: This Diva has been with NCAI for quite some time, even surviving recent leadership shakeups. Despite her commitment, don't expect this Diva to be with NCAI forever. Could she be tapped for a government position? By this administration, not likely. So look for her to move into the private sector where she can buy even more fabulous pantsuits!
