The second of four conferences promoting Navajo family values and cultural awareness was held in Shiprock, New Mexico, on Wednesday.

The Dine Family Values Through Spirituality Conference was called by tribal officials and others to respond to recent incidences of violence on the reservation. The sessions focus on crime, gangs and law enforcement but also on traditional culture.

The meetings are being held by the Office of the Navajo Nation President and Miss Navajo Nation. President Kelsey Begaye attended part of the session yesterday, The Farmington Daily-Times reported.
