Studies: Drinking protects diabetics

AUGUST 1, 2000 Two studies to be published in the current issue of Circulation, a journal of the American Heart Association, say that diabetics who drink moderately are less likely to suffer from heart disease. Diabetics who drink more than half a drink per day cut their heart disease risk in half compared with those who rarely drank or never consumed alcohol at all, say the studies. The researchers warn that those who have never or rarely drank liquor before shouldn't start drinking more. Get the Story:
