Radiation victims will receive $84 million in compensation from the federal government under a compromise deal reached on a supplemental spending bill Thursday.

The compromise resolves a difference between the House and Senate versions of the bill. It will would have to be approved by both chambers, however, before going onto the President for his signature.

Many of the victims of radiation were Navajo miners who worked for the government in uranium mines in the Southwest.
