Smoker awarded $3B by Calif. jury

A jury in California on Wednesday awarded a lifelong smoker $3 billion dollars in punitive damages, charging tobacco giant Philip Morris with fraud and deception.

Richard Boeken is 56 and says he started smoking at age 13, before health warnings were placed on cigarette packages. He now has lung cancer caused by his deadly habit.

Philip Morris is planning an appeal.
