MAY 9, 2000 A fire intended to clear excess underbrush and deadwood shut down the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, yesterday. The fire was set on Thursday at the Bandelier National Monument, a historic Pueblo site, but weather conditions turned the blaze into a potentially dangerous situation for residents of the area and the Laboratory. LANL Employees are urged to call the lab's Update Phone Line at (505) 667-6622 for the latest.
