Alaskan Natives want cruise ships out

MAY 1, 2000 Citing danger to seal pups, the Yakutat Tlingit tribe, the Alaska Native Brotherhood, and the Yakutat Native Marine Mammal Commission have called for cruise ships to stay out of Disenchantment Bay during pupping season. The groups passed resolutions against cruise ships in the bay that plow through the ice where the seals give birth to pups. The pupping season begins in the middle of May, when ships begin returning to the bay. Get the Story:
