Tribal and health officials in Wyoming are criticizing a draft of a minority health report because they say it is based on inaccurate data.

Tribal officials say the use of telephone surveys and state mortality data does not give an accurate picture of Indian health. They say Indian Health Service (IHS) data should be used.

Some local health providers agree and say reports keep getting generated on minority health but do little to benefit tribes. Under-funding is a problem cited.

The Wyoming Primary Care Association, who prepared the report, defends its draft and said its figures are just a starting point to addressing health care needs.
