Thurmond OK after Senate collapse

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2001

Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) received emergency medical attention after collapsing on the Senate floor yesterday. He was admitted to an area hospital and is said to be doing well.

At 98, Thurmond is the oldest and longest-serving member of Congress. He will not run for re-election next year.
