OCTOBER 3, 2000

Police in Anchorage, Alaska, are investigating the suspected killer of an Alaska Native woman to see if he has ties to other killings dating back to two years.

Joshua Allen Wade, 20, was arrested for the murder of Della Brown, 33. A complaint filed against him said that he showed friends the body of Brown, whom he had sexually assaulted both before and after her death.

Two friends taped a conversation with Wade in which he admitted he knew Brown and apparently another dead woman.

Five Alaska Native women have been found dead in recent weeks. A sixth victim was African-American.
