A 911 operator who handled one of the calls from two Aboriginal sisters killed in a domestic violence dispute criticized the police on Tuesday for handling the situation poorly.

Susan Cieslar eventually quit her job at the Winnipeg, Manitoba, 911 center where Corrine McKeown and Doreen Leclair attempted to seek help. But not before she said police chief Jack Ewatski threw her and other workers "to the wolves" to protect himself.

McKeown and Leclair were killed by William Dunlop, McKeown's ex-boyfriend. Dunlop pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is serving life in prison.
