JULY 6, 2000 New legislation would create a new Independent Claims Body to examine Native land claims and institute a $5 million cap per case on unresolved claims. Leaders from Canada's 630 First Nations will decide on whether or not to accept the proposed legislation. It will be one of the issues discussed at the upcoming Assembly of First Nations next week.
