JUNE 19, 2000

Both the American and Canadian governments used Indian land as bombing ranges during major wars of the past century.

In 1986, the Tsuu T'ina First Nation in Alberta formed Wolf's Flat Ordnance Disposal Corporation, the only tribally owned company in North America that specializes in explosives disposal. The tribe's company has cleared mines inKosovo, Panama and Nicaragua and employs 136 employees.

The military leased over 12,000 acres of the nation's land for 90 years.
