MAY 31, 2000

Fisherman from the Big Cove First Nation and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans are still unable to come to an agreement over the number of lobster traps the band can set under the management of the DFO. The DFO suggested 450 traps but the band said that was insufficient. According to the DFO, the band wants as many as 3000 traps, which the government says it cannot manage properly.
