WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2002

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Tuesday announced it was suspending about 150 water projects.

The halt affects projects which have been congressionally approved but not yet started. The Corps said it wants to respond to a forthcoming General Accounting Office (GAO) report which criticizes the economic factors used to justify projects.
