The Senate is finalizing work on an energy policy bill in preparation for a vote today.

The vote comes after months of wrangling and weeks of debate on the floor. But differences in the House version mean more negotiations are ahead, including drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

One area that might see agreement is a natural gas pipeline in Alaska. Environmentalists, Democrats and the state are behind the project.
