TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2002 The Department of Interior's proposed fiscal year 2003 budget includes $1.5 million to acquire land for the Tent Rocks National Monument near Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico, a request Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) says he will help push through. The monument is officially called the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. Kasha-Katuwe means "white cliff" in Keres, the language of Cochiti Pueblo. The monument was declared by President Bill Clinton in January 2000. Domenici sits on the Interior Appropriations subcommittee. Get the Story:
