Oklahoma state and federal officials are considering action to force an environmental study of a proposed water compact between the state and two tribes.

The Choctaw Nation and the Chickasaw Nation have come to an agreement with the state on water rights. A key part is the sale of water to Texas.

The Legislature must approve the compact before it becomes effective.

Some environmentalists are calling for more study as well.
