Goshute Tribe partner sue Utah

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2001

Eight private energy companies and the Skull Valley Goshute Tribe have sued the state of Utah over laws they say are unconstitutional.

The federal lawsuit seeks a declaration against the laws. The laws were passed in an attempt to shut down a project to store up to 40,000 tons of nuclear waste on the tribe's reservation.

Alternatively, the laws make it hard for anyone to do business with the project by imposing fines, taxes and other penalties.
