Pueblo says land won't affect landfill

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2001 Isleta Pueblo Lt. Gov Randy Jiron said his tribe's request to have a 100,000-acre ranch taken into trust shouldn't affect a local county's plans for a landfill. Jiron said the Pueblo is willing to work with Valencia County to ensure access to the landfill. The 640-acre landfill would be located next to the Pueblo's ranch. The Pueblo bought the ranch in 1997. It has recently asked for it to be taken into trust. Get the Story:
