TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2001

In an editorial today, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says a plan to restore bison to the Plains is laudable but there are many questions remaining.

The paper says the Great Plains Restoration Council's plan would be welcome among state, federal and tribal efforts to restore bison. But concerns over management, land and money worry the paper.

The plan calls for 1 million acres of land for a national buffalo preserve. The Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has endorsed the idea.
