Norton to meet with Hopi Tribe

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2001 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton is in Arizona today and tomorrow and will meet with the Hopi Tribe. While in Hopi country, Norton will visit the Grand Canyon to discuss transportation issues. She is also visiting an experimental forest where burning and tree-thinning projects have taken place. The Interior is considering a rule to allow some Hopi tribal members to collect baby eaglets from Wupatki National Monument. Over 4,000 comments were received and the National Park Service is currently analyzing them. Get the Story:
