Company settles royalty dispute

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 2001 BP Corporation North America has agreed to pay $365,000 to settle claims it cheated the federal government out of carbon dioxide royalties in northeastern New Mexico. In recent years, the government has settled a number of lawsuits with companies for underpayemnt of royalties on federal and Indian land. The case in question affected only federal land on one of the largest reserves of carbon dioxide in the country. Get the Story:
