Fire destroys home of dead Leech Lake man

JUNE 4, 2001 A fire burned down the Leech Lake Reservation home of Darryl Headbird Sr. on Saturday as family and community members mourned his death at a Minnesota church. The fire is expected to be treated as arson. Headbird was allegedly shot to death by his 14-year-old son, who then allegedly stabbed the foster parents of his girlfriend. Darryl Headbird Jr. may be tried as an adult. Get the Story:
