Energy legislation introduced today

President Bush will send his energy legislation to Congress today, launching a GOP-wide effort to promote a policy amid signs the nation's power crisis may be fading.

A number of Republican lawmakers and Republican party officials will be spending the upcoming weeks pushing the plan throughout the country.

Gas prices have fallen 9 percent in the past month, according to the American Automobile Association.

In Caifornia, the target of criticism by Bush's national policy, Governor Gray Davis (D) opened up a new power plant in Fellows.
