Forest rules take effect this weekend

A controversial set of regulations limiting road construction and logging on nearly 60 million acres of federal forest land go into effect this weekend, the head of the US Forest Service said on Tuesday.

The US Department of Agriculture, however, will be seeking modifications, Dale Bosworth added. But he told the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee that he didn't yet know how additional public comments will be handled.
