In an attempt to conserve energy, President Bush on Thursday ordered federal agencies located in Californiat to take power-saving measures such as turning off lights when no on ie around, limiting use of air conditioners, and unplugging coffee pots when not in use.

The order is part of Bush's greater push for his energy policy. His energy task force will soon release its recommendations on a national policy that includes a number of controversial proposals such as opening the Arctic National Wildife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska to drilling.
