MAY 12, 2000

A recent federal ruling declaring the entire Kenai Peninsula in Alaska eligible for subsistence fish and game has led to a proposal converting all fish and shellfish into unregulated fisheries. The Ninilchik Traditional Council in Ninilchik and two other Alaskan citizens each made similar proposals that will be considered by federal subsistence managers in December.

The federal ruling of May 4 came in response to a request by the Kenaitze tribe in Alaska.
