Crow chief's home keeps park funds

MAY 11, 2001 After several meetings and a threat of lawsuit, the Montana Legislature reappropriated funds earmarked for Chief Plenty Coups State Park, the home the Crow chief donated to the public. In 1999, the park had been funded with $500,000 in improvement funds. But $78,000 has been spent and the park's advisory council had to lobby lawmakers and state officials to make sure the funds didn't go away. The park's advisory council met at the Little Big Horn College on the Crow Reservation this week to discuss concerns about the funds. Get the Story:
