Alaska oil spill being cleaned up

APRIL 18, 2001 Phillips Alaska Inc. is cleaning up a recent crude oil and saltwater spill on Alaska's Nortn Slope and progress is going well, said an official with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. More than 92,000 gallons of saltwater and crude leaked from a pipeline on Sunday at the Kuparuk oil field. It is said to be one of the largest ever. The exact cause is still unknown. Get the Story:
