Ojibwe spearfishing season to begin

APRIL 13, 2001 The spearfishing season for walleyes begins this month in Wisconsin. Six Ojibwe bands in the state have court-affirmed treaty rights to catch the walleye. Various limits to the catch are applied by the Department of Natural Resources. The total request for the bands is 45,321 walleye. The bands will spear on 283 lakes. Get the Story:
