Petroglyph monument cleaned up

APRIL 11, 2001 More than 150 volunteers over the weekend helped clean up the Petroglyph National Monument in New Mexico, home to various Puebloan petroglphys. The monument is located near Albuquerque. Pueblo leaders and environmentalists have been fighting to prevent construction of a highway extension they say will harm the site. Mayor Jim Baca attended an event at the monument on Saturday and said he opposed the project as well. Get the Story:
