The Department of Interior budget unveiled by Secretary Gale Norton on Monday includes $1.2 million for the National Park Services' controversial Yelllowstone bison management plan.

The plan was signed with the state of Montana over the herd of bison in Yellowstone National Park. It allows state officials to shoot bison that wander out of park boundaries if they test positive for brucellosis.

The state fears the transfer of brucellosis from bison to cattle, which can cause the abortion of calves.

The plan currently has $300,000, which will last until October 1.
