The New Mexico Heritage Preservation Alliance, a private, non-profit organization, on Thursday unveiled its list of the 10 most endangered places in the state.

Included are "cavate pueblos," which are carved out dwellings occupied by the ancestor's of today's Pueblos. The group says these are threatened because they were dug into soft, volcanic rock that is weathering away.
