Kootenai Tribe seeks power plant

MARCH 8, 2001 The Kootenai Tribe is proposing to build a $50 million power plant on its Idaho reservation in hopes of capitalizing on the lucrative energy market. The tribe had been considering the project since a 1995 report indicated its feasibility. But since power at that time was cheap, they weren't too excited about it. The plant would generate 12.5 megawatts and burn wood or municipal waste. Get the Story:
