Water spill helps some salmon

MARCH 15, 2001 The Bonneville Power Administration over the past week says it spilled enough water to help generate $1.2 million worth of electricity and save endangered species of salmon. But critics say the spill benefited only salmon called "tules" at the Spring Creek hatchery and not the threatened or endangered runs of salmon nine federal agencies, including Bonneville, last year promised to protect in a recovery plan.
