Aleutian goose off endangered lis

FEBRUARY 2, 2001U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials onThursday said the Aleutian Canadian goose, driven to near-extinctionby predation by foxes, will be taken offthe endangered species list.The goose inhabits the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.A small population was discovered on remote island in1962 and recovery efforts have helped raised the populationto about 37,000 as of 1999.
