Poll: Most oppose Arctic drilling

FEBRUARY 2, 2001 An Associated Press Poll released on Thursday says that 53 percent of Americans oppose drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Some 33 percent said they support it, while another 13 percent were undecided. President George W. Bush, Secretary of Interior Gale Norton, and Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham support development but Congress would need to open up the refuge for exploration. Get the Story:
