FEBRUARY 15, 2001 Representative James Hansen (R-Utah) on Wednesday sent letters to various lawmakers, calling for a formal review of all the monument designations made by former President Bill Clinton. Hansen has been critical of a number of Clinton's environmental decisions, including the roadless forest plan, a snowmobile ban in Yellowstone National Park, and a limit on commercial air tours in the Grand Canyon. He has been asking President George W. Bush and other Republicans to rescind or change these rules and regulations. Hansen is chair of the House Resources Committee, which has jurisdiction over Indian issues. Get the Story:
