JANUARY 4, 2000

Certain wolves in and around the Yellowstone National Park face death if they resume their attacks on livestock, say federal officials.

US Fish and Wildlife officials tested an experimental aversion therapy treatment program on four wolves who had attacked sheep, cattle, and other livestock. One wolf died in captivity and the the others were released and are now being tracked.

About 3,000 bison have been killed for leaving park boundaries and threatening Montana livestock. A final management plan between the state and federal agencies seeking to reduce killings became offical last month.
