JANUARY 25, 2001

The housing director for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota says 250 families are on the waiting list for homes on the reservation.

Housing constructed by Habitat for Humanity is helping relieve the problems. But Wayne Ducheneaux says there are still houses with 20 or 30 people living there.

About 60 percent of 1,528 families are homeless or living in overcrowded conditions.
